Who do you think you are?

The first step to live for the best is to have an incredible positive self-image. We must believe that we have been made in the image of God, and that He gives our lives intrinsic values. We should not strive for the approval of other people or depend on compliments from our superiors or peers to feel good about ourselves. Bright, friendly, articulate, and extremely competent at our works, we go through our lives with a smile.

A healthy self-image *with a smile*

The second step to living our best lives now is developing healthy self-images. That means we must base our self-images on what God's Word says about us, rather than on false, fickle standards such as what neighbourhood we live in, the style of car we drive, or the opinions of power-lunch groups. Unquestionably, a healthy self-image is one of the key factors in the success and happiness of any individual.

How we see ourselves and how we feel about ourselves will have tremendous impacts on how far we go in lives and whether or not we fulfull our destinies.

Self-esteem, then, is that deep-down feeling we have about ourselves. It is how we regard ourselves, our opinions, our judgements of our own values, the extent to which we think we matter in lives. It is the feeling that says, "I like myself," or "I dislike myself."

Similarly, our self-images are much like self-portraits; it is who and what we picture oursevels to be. Interestingly, our self-images may or may not be an accurate reflection of who we really are, but it is how we perceive ourselves to be. Who do you think you are?

The reason our self-concepts are so important is: We will probably speak, act, and react as the person we think we are. Definitely, even with a negative self-concepts, we may occasionally break out of the pattern and land a big deal, win over a new friend, or belt a sofball out of the parkat the company picnic. Conversely, even those individuals with healthy self-images blow it from time to time. But usually, our minds will complete the pictures we tell it to paint of ourselves.

If we see ourselves as unqualified, insignificant, unattractive, inferior, or inadequate, we will probably act in accordance with our thoughts. If our self-worths are low, we will imagine ourselves as born losers, washouts, unworthy of being loved and accepted.

"I can never do anything right."
"Why me?"
"I'll never amount to anything."

Those are just a few of the phrases that dominate the conversations of a person with poor self-esteem. On the other hand, individuals who view themselves as God sees them are usually happy about who they are. They know that they have been created in God's image and He has crowned them with tremendous honor. They feel good about themselves, because they know that God loves them and He feels good about them!

I have the likes of disliking people who are rude and selfish. People who like to put their blames on others.
