Chinese New Year Eve

When we talked about Chinese New Year Eve, family reunion dinner is always mentioned. It was great to have everyone sitting down and have dinner together. It only happens once a year but this is the point that made the day special for families.

I just learned that we put off a fire crackers as a sign; Sign: We are having a family reunion dinner.

The night was crazy! Sibu-ians put off their fireworks like crazy! It started at 11.00pm, non-stop to 12.15 am! This proved that we are kiasu. For example, if a neighbour started to put off their fireworks, not wanting to lose (and at the same time, showing off their 'powers'), the rest of the neighbours started to put off theirs!
