I always look forward to going back home for Chinese New Year. There are many reasons to it.
First thing first, the reunion dinner. I see most people go out to have steamboat or dinner outside in a restaurant. My family? We never failed to make home cook dishes.
Secondly is my cousins and brothers. We basically hung out almost every night before bedtime.
Well, something different for this year – the boyfriend went back to Sibu with me. I am glad that he mixed well with my family members. I am really happy to see that my family members like him. Oh, guess what? It was my grandmother’s very first time to make curry for reunion dinner. Reason? Him.
Thirdly, friends gathering. We are only able to see each other once a year and that is Chinese New Year. We are all in different places – Bintulu, Melbourne and Penang.
During this year’s Chinese New Year, we were able to celebrate our mother’s birthday again. Now that she’s staying alone, it’s not a wonder why she’s so happy – the companions.
And finally, we will always have another round of bi family reunion dinner as our farewells.
No, I don’t go back once a year. I usually go back twice a year. The next time would be June and I cannot wait to go back…
